Ants, ants, freaking ants...
They're getting a little bit on my nerves...considering that on Sunday those little bastards took an apple pie away from me...it was before its time...I was going to have it for afternoon tea, but no, the ants had to come in and cover it with themselves...bastards...they've been everywhere...in the bathroom attacking the Listertine bottle, all over the table, my bedside table too and all those nice ME areas...sucks...
Apart from that, found out this week that I'm no longer at Eagle Farm, which is really annoying...that's a $250 shift gone...I'm still trying to find out why, so we'll see what happens from there...
If you're interested in buying a very interesting book, please click the link below...yes, it does cost AUD$70, that is the price, but it's for an out of print first edition that's been signed by the author personally...why not?

Watched two movies recently, Rocknroller and Death Race...both I enjoyed tremendously, and am willing to watch them again the moment they come out on DVD...and copy the bastards to my HDD...:)
Was at a bucks party last week....25 hours of drinking, a lot of titties, a lot of alcohol, and a lot of fun...I might post come pictures up sometime, but we'll see first...:D
And yea, not much else has been happening; organised my flights home for Christmas to see my family, uni exams are over, and I think I'm going to fail at least one subject, my hours have been cut back severely, which sucks in itself, and yea...life continues on like usual...
And it's on that note that I might dash off...yea yea, I know I haven't been updating like I normally do...but I'll get back into it sooner rather than later...:)
Till then, be safe..

Who Is The Black Chinaman?
- Nick
- Kuala Belait, Brunei
- Saving someone's life is like falling in love. The best drug in the world. For days, sometimes weeks afterwards, you walk the streets, making infinite whatever you see. Once, for a few weeks, I couldn't feel the earth - everything I touched became lighter. Horns played in my shoes. Flowers fell from my pockets. You wonder if you've become immortal, as if you've saved your own life as well. God has passed through you. Why deny it, that for a moment there - why deny that for a moment there, God was you? I realised that my training was useful in less than ten percent of the calls, and saving lives was rarer than that. After a while, I grew to understand that my role was less about saving lives than about bearing witness. I was a grief mop. It was enough that I simply turned up. Living and working back in Brunei, after a 14 year absence... Also known as: Brunei, NASA, Bruise-Eye, Bru, Cheesecake, Nick, BruNick, BruMedNick, Two Step etc etc etc

Bruises, Pain and Cheesecake...
Well, it's been a while since I last updated, so I'm going to put a token one in here now, and hopefully get a more in depth one over the next few days...
Firstly, new super at Redcliffe is turning out to be a good person, still getting to know the crew, but all's good so far...issues there too, but we're not going to bother for now....
Currently doing my Cash-In-Transit certification at TAFE, so waking up every morning bright and early...not something I really enjoy doing...but then again, when can you play around with batons, hand guns and handcuffs on a daily basis at school? Got a decent bruise on the back of my left knee at the moment too, and a broken training baton at the TAFE; guy went a bit skitz, and took a bigger swing then he really needed to...anyhow, that's over and done with, apologies done, and all good...
Made 10 cheesecakes too in same class...had an hour to make them, so they were doing the paperwork for the weapons, and I was making cheesecakes...five each of mid fruit and strawberry...did a change to the recipe too, using olive oil and sugar in the base as opposed to butter...took a bit longer to come together, but tasted alright in the end...might have to start using that in the future too, just to get to know it well...
Got to mention Shay not leaving for the Kimberley's too...see, told you you might get a mention...:p
Apart from that, not much else is happening; have to pay money for a taxi that I broke earlier in the month, well, dinted...end of semester is this Friday, Study Week next week, then exams...so got to do all my essays owing in the next few days...and prepare for two exams that I never went to class for, either because of work, or because I've been slaughtered after work...I'm already taking naps in the breaks to catch up on lost sleep...and buggered if I'm going to shoot my foot off in class...
Right, sleep.
Be safe.

Dream, dream, dream, dream....WTF?
It's amazing what dreams you can get...at times, they're scary, at times, painful, sometimes, pleasant, others still funny...mostly they're lost forever in that little haze...between waking up and going back to sleep...it is said that dreams occur in the last few minutes of sleep...so, what could seem like an eternity is in fact only iota of time...(I've been trying to figure out when I could use the word 'iota'...:p)
Anyhow, this dream that dragged me out of my blissful slumber included the x, security work at an extreme situation, two girls I've met in the last week, the x's "boyfriend", Edam cheese, digging holes, and a 63 year old...amongst other things...read on...
It started with a siege situation, a drunk fella holes himself up in a fountain in what looked like Mooloolaba, but it could have been any beach...and he's made one of the security guards drop something, so I was tasked with grabbing the item, a watch, and securing the cordon; but I was told to grab a weapon before I went in...so I got a M16...?!?! WTF?...anyhow, went around this building to flank them, and along the way, there's other security guards (we was in work uniform hey?) were all in little foxholes in concrete and tarmac...and I came around the side just before the side they were on, and told to dig in by this white haired bloke, also in security uniform...he drew a design on the concrete with his boots, but I told him I've been sent to pick up the watch...so he brings me to the side where there's this desktop computer, and go through the work roster...I find out he's 63 years old, under the 'H' section...and he's complaining about a location, and saying Redcliffe was a good place to be rostered...
Next thing I know, I'm running around the building, and hiding behind this vista/fountain thing in this courtyard, next to the fountain where there's now like 40 guys in broken down cars and all that....siege situation still...and ran to another security guard on another desktop, with one of the guards in a motorised wheelchair...picked up the watch, put it in my pocket, and started shooting at the guys in the fountain...
Took out a few, then started running dry...but I didn't know because the damned thing kept needing to be recocked, and the safety kept jumping back to safe, as if on a spring, so kept pushing that to single shot...anyhow, stood there, and definitely ran dry, but still aimed at the bad guys, but there were two that I couldn't take down...and it seemed like I was the only one firing...and still having issues with the safety...
Then, walking towards the first guy, to negotiate with him to leaving the premises for causing a disturbance...and somehow saw that he had a hand grenade, and saw that he was going to blow the both of us up, and knew how he was going to do it too, but saw it in the 3rd person camera angle thingy, spinning around the both of us...then there's a grenade in my hand, and at exactly the same moment, both of us pulled pins and jammed them into the shirt pockets of each other; he's surprised that I knew what was coming............
I honestly do not know how the situation resolved itself, but next sequence I was in this apartment, and walked into what was obviously my room, and the x was there, with the boyfriend, sitting around...now, I do not have communications with her in real life, but in the dream I still did, and it was to exchange nasty messages on MSN...not that I want communications with her...but it was still strange...anyhow, hungry, so went to the kitchen, and she's helping me cook pasta, and then something else, and I had to go back to the room to pick up the M16 to clean...and the barrel was rubber, so the weapon bent downward, but the rest of it was real enough...(in the context of the dream anyhow)...walked down the stairs, and was checking the mag and all that, why it kept resetting the safety, and walked into the kitchen and the x was still there...cutting Edam cheese on the board to add to the pasta...but it was a piece that needed to have the fungi cut off it first (I actually threw out a small piece of Edam out last night for fungi growth on too much of it)...then told her boyfriend to go fuck himself, then he has disappeared, and the x and I talk about old times........
Then next thing I know I'm in my room again, with one of the girls I met during the past week...(the girl I do know in real life, and that's how we met, after work one night, and it was, "what are you doing here?...I live here...what are you doing here....I live here too..." sort of situation...more about that later)...anyhow, we ended up in bed, and one thing led to another, as it does...she goes to the bathroom, and another chick that lives around the corner that I work with comes in, and we do the jiggy too (I'm getting more action in my dreams than in real life! Unhappy Jan....!) Then something else happens, and I'm back downstairs with the x in the kitchen...with my M16 in my hand, with the rubber barrel...
I wake up after slamming my foot with the rifle butt...hard...
That has got to be one of the stranger dreams I've had, but I'll admit, I'm surprised myself that I remembered it all...well, most of it anyway...
Now, we return to normal programming...please stand by...
Past week has been interesting...the girl I ran into that lives down the block from me works late hours too, so I'm now going to be looking after her if she's working and I'm finishing work too to give her a lift home...more or less Chris (one of the guards) and I were at this place having some beers after work, ran into her, found out she was working there, had a chat, got more drinks, then it was like, let's get out of here...got to the front, was sitting around chatting, and she comes over and does the whole what are you doing here thing...next thing I know we're drinking till 0745...interesting...but yea, she's a pretty cool chick...
Tuesday was working at the Maroochy RSL, and it was boring as all...until we got reports of people on the roof throwing bottles down...and had to search the roof and construction site for them...all fun...
Thursday got into a little altercation, causing a chick to slam her head into the metal poles (she pushed me, I pushed back, just happened to be a pole right behind her, and "BONGGGGG"...still feel like shit, even though she was a bitch who swung at us with a chair)...and having a guy do GBH on a flowerpot...it was a right royal mess that was in the end...
The new super at Redcliffe I've worked with before at Eagle Farm, and he's a good bloke, so we'll see how that's going to go in the next few weeks...
Right, got to go get ready...been told to go to the office; apparently there's a request from head office that I need to redo my tax information...was told this on Friday, so it's nothing urgently urgent...
Be safe...and stay tuned, for more crazy adventures from Nick...who needs the movies with psychotic dreams like that (says Lee...)?

...Do Not Jump On A Bus To Winnipeg...
Following another stabbing on a Greyhound bus to Winnipeg, I don't think I really feel like going to Canada...on account I might get stabbed on a bus...lots of fun...
This weekend past was enjoyable...a whole heap of quotable quotes from a lot of people...
Firstly also, Friday was International Talk Like A Pirate Day...it was quite fun at work...unfortunately, was told right at the start, in spoken conversation between guards, piratese is okay, but it is not over the radios...there were still random Yhargs and Yo Ho Ho's though...hehe...and the threat of keelhauling someone did help in the taxi line...so it was very comical...
Anyhow, one of the quotable quotes (QQ) comes from Friday night...it was about 2200, and got called outside to a disturbance in the taxi line...there was this one guy who didn't want to pay his taxi fare of $13.50/tried to pay only with a $10 note...so more or less went outside and said, "Mate, what's going on here...etc etc"...and the guy then took out two $20 notes and tried to give it to the taxi driver, the guy's like, "Mate, now you've given me too much, anyway, here's your change..."
So this guy tried to come in; Todd and I both agreed that he wasn't coming in already from that display outside, and Col got informed too, so we were all standing around...next thing Todd's talking to him, and going, "Sir, you appear to be unduly intoxicated, and we cannot allow you entry to the premises..."
The guy looks him in the eye and says, "Mate, I'm not drunk, I've been shooting up..." At which point he clearly does the "injecting into arm" movement in view of the camera...and we're like, yup, definitely grounds for refusal of entry...
Another one was this rather large Moari chick...and she was MESSY...and large...anyway, Mick, one of the other guards, was grabbed by her by the jaw, and she's just said to him, "I like you, I think you're pretty...I'm going to fuck you..." Mick's starting to panic by this stage, and finally breaks free and dashes off to safety, while Todd is pissing himself laughing in the background...so anyhow, later in the evening, (Todd's still trailing this chick), she comes across Mick again...and says, "Hey, you ran off earlier, I've been trying to find you...want to come watch me piss?" Todd's doing all he can to not roll all over the floor laughing, and Mick's just turned this pale shade of green...needless to say, she was escorted off premises soon after, without Mick...hehe...
Karen also had a fun night on Saturday, with some idiots in a bucks party attempt to one up her...guy comes up, is acting like a goose, so Karen says to him, "You're being disorderly, this is your final warning before we escort you out..." And he pipes up, "I'm 44 years old, and I've seen more shit and done more things than you'll ever done in your life time..." To which Karen replies, "I'M 45...FUCK OFF"...
That's the end of the QQ section for now...
Saturday night was also the last night that Col was working at Redcliffe Leagues as security supervisor...he's taken a new job at the Roma St Watch House as a supervisor there...and he wasn't even at work that night...he was sent to another venue at the last moment...so the guards actually organised a small going away party with some food and "a carton of XXXX Gold" with some going away stuff for the boss...what eventually happened was we had four pizzas, two mixed platters, some scotch, lots of rum, Jim Beams, and some Extra Drys...and Col ended up with a card, a police woman's uniform, with matching pink fluffy baton, some furry handcuffs, and a big tub of Vasoline......it was actually quite enjoyable, leaving the place at 0400...and we all finished at 0130...the last persons left in the taxi at 0126...it was a bloody good night...the rain and the fact the Bronco's lost assisted in the getting rid of people...
Sunday was at Corbauld Park Race Course, and ran into Fawksy, from Bathurst!!! He's moved up here two months ago, and been working there since, and yea, was walking down the stairs into the security office, and there he is and we're both like, "What the fuck are you doing here?!" Well, he's there now, sort of know where he lives, and yea, it's a small bloody world....
Got a six day rotation this week...should mean a bit of $$$ too...tonight at Maroochydore RSL, trying my hardest to change the Thursday shift to Kings Beach Tavern for a revue, but not too sure just yet...and the weekend is the usual locations in the world...
Anyhow, better get something to eat...some grilled snags sound good actually...and I've got this inkling for New York Baked Cheesecake.......damnit...

Tainted Love
Sometimes I feel I've got to, run away, I've got to, get away...
I think I saw the x today...was seriously thinking about how the past few days have been, and there was this chick in front of me...if it was her, she's looking good....first time I've seen her in a few months, but hey, considering we have the same days at uni, it was bound to happen sooner than later...
Work so far this week has been interesting...going to be another full week again...with a call up Tuesday night 40 mins before the shift started...there was a wake for a 24 year old who died, and it was my first job solo...I think I did pretty alright, no major hassles, and yea...that was that...
Had an incident in Redcliffe on Friday night at close...more or less what happened was two drunk idiots were on bikes riding around the carpark, and started hassling people in the taxi line, so told them to bugger off...about 15 mins later, this lady comes walking back really quickly saying her partner is being assaulted up the street, and came for help...so, Todd, Col, Nathan, Damien and myself rushed up to the site...and saw one of the idiots run away wearing only his red undies...there was the guy that they kicked in the face; he was messed up: blood cascading down his face, both cheeks and eyes swollen, and he had the other guy locked up in a headlock saying "this is one of the bastards that kicked me in the head"...needless to say, the guy was looking pretty blue by the time we took control of him...anyhow, once we tried to figure out what the hell was going on, young son wannabe superman decides to come back to the scene...out comes the flash light, and the old parade ground voice, and boom: he's got his hands up, drops to his knees and interlaces his fingers behind his head (I think he's done this before)...Todd and I were just shouting at him to get on the ground and not move...Todd sat on him, and this guy, in only his red undies, starts to call Todd a faggot...now, Todd replies back, "Mate, you're in your undies on the side of the road with a 100kg bald guy sitting on your back...who's gay now?" The guy was not happy, but who gives a rats...cops finally came, took control of the two idiots, got the guy who got assaulted to hospital, and left the shorts of red undies kid on the side of the road...the description in my notepad was a classic: "[M3], skinny, red undies."
Hehehe...
Apart from that, work's been pretty constant, so that's a good thing I guess...if only uni was as easy as work, things would be so much better...
It was bloody hot too on Tues...28C...16 days into Spring...it's going to be a bloody hot summer I think...also looked at the temperature in Bathurst at the same time...10C...damn it...

Nothing Like Getting Paid To Watch Girls Walk By In Bikinis...
Last week was good...very slow...a drastic change, obviously, from Narangba...didn't get to do the Jim Beam Party Crew, but Miss Indy 2008 Heat 3 did make up for it...:D
Was at the Kings Beach Tavern on Friday night, for Miss Indy...what was funny was that the week before, Sully actually said that they were not going to send me to Miss Indy because I wasn't "mature" enough in the game to do the job, and that's fair enough, they've been in the job a hellova lot longer than I've been alive, so if they're saying no, then it's obviously no...but anyhow, they sent me there weekend past...so getting into that altercation did put me up a few pegs...whoo...
I also got a message from my aunty: she was like, are you ok? Just felt something's up...so, told her about the situation last weekend, and she's like, who's your NoK in case something seriously bad happens...? All organised already anyway, so no issues...the company knows that if the shit hits the fan, they'll call the NoK first, then my sister if it's seriously bad...[touch wood] never going to get to that stage [/touch wood]...but it does feel nice to be worried about by extended family...
Saturday night was back at Redcliffe...haven't been there in yonks (since I started at Narangba), so mostly catching up with all the staff and all the usual stuff...the first grade won that day, so they were in the bar drinking heavily (as they do), and yea, started becoming rowdy...luckily enough, since the club has a policy that if they drink and do stupid things, they'll get kicked off the team automatically...so, the team got given a blanket warning, then slowly started being removed by the manager...all was good...until the taxi line...
Now, how it unfolded was like this: drunk team member starts going off at one of the guards over something that happened months ago...what sparked him off was one patron urinating in the taxi line in front of everyone, and the guard said that it was a bad choice in a bad location...so anyhow, team member starts making a fool of himself, in club shirt still, and starts saying things to the Duty Manager, and the TEAM MANAGER...and actually shoves the team manager away...so anyhow, finally, everyone's like, mate, you're pissed, rack off...walks away finally...all his other team mates had left him ages before...
Anyhow, he comes back a little later, tries to start another guard, and they're like, mate, go away...you do realise that you're now out of camera coverage and that the majority of the staff are here (one of the duty managers was leaving, so it was his last night shift, so drinks after work)...so they were all looking at him, just going, mate, go home...finally, another guard and I escorted drunk son out to the main gates...and then he starts ranting and raving about what the issue was all about...and starts sprouting about how his dad was a Vietnam Vet and all that, and how the security guards were all dicks, except us two, and this and that and blah de blah...finally got him into a taxi (which didn't drive off even with us waving him away to get the dickhead home), but not before he was crying and screaming and carrying on...we just shook our heads and walked back...
Final note: the kids dad was not a Vietnam Vet, he was in the army at the time, yes, but assaulted someone, so actually spent time in prison for the duration, and after as well...got injured whilst in the klink...and was a drunken slob who touched the female bar staff, so obviously that's not on...and then the guy's son, the idiot's brother, started, so they were both kicked out, banned and this kid was carrying on about the injustice about it all...he's got an alternate universe thingy going on...he's now off the team, and banned for life too from the club for threatening staff...idiot...
Going to be in Brisvagas tomorrow night until who knows when to do my RSA...I think I'm getting paid to do the course...I hope so anyway...whoo...
Going back to bed now...still can't sleep, and the new pills don't work as effectively...unfortunately...
Be safe.

I'm In Love Again...
With my Surefire 6P flashlight...the damned piece of metal saved my life last night...more on that later...
The past week has been an experience, that's for sure...with somethings ticked off the list of things to do before you die, to me being scared shitless again thinking I was about to bloody die...and spending a night in Caboolture Hospital under observation...which, in itself, is something I really do not want to relive either...
During the week, nothing much happened apart from uni...assignments coming up, quizzes, tests etc...
But Friday...man....did Friday start shit...
In the last two days I feel like I've aged considerably, muscles I haven't exercised in years are screaming out in protest, I've got bruises on both arms, my back, chest, ribs, legs and definitely on my head, mostly on my left side near my ear...but also some on the front and back and neck area...
(And once the shit is sorted out, I might even be able to upload some CCTV footage...pending release of course...but man, there's some shit going on in them...)
The takedowns were cool...as was being able to drag a bastard that was 7 foot tall, large and pissed off out the door...but spending the night in hospital, not so cool...as was the concept of being at the bottom of a 12 man dog pile...
So, lets start from the top:
Friday night, at around 2214...a little shithead that was squaring off with me from last week was back in the pub...and he was quite literally a little shithead...he was little, and a shithead...anyhoo, he started pissing off the regulars and some other people, and they were like, please get rid of him before we string him up (the pub is that sort of place), so Max took him outside, and they were in the DOSA having a little chat...then he started to play touchy feely with Max and me....then lunged into me, so I just tackled him straight into a glass door (didn't break luckly), and slammed him into the walls....since I was too close to him, couldn't hit him, but Max managed to get him into a lock....but didn't get both his arms secured, so young son got him a good one between the eyes...that was just funny on the security footage...hehe...Max learned a lesson, I just had puny lumps on the side of my head....nothing much....but a life ban for the little shit...
Within THREE MINUTES of that happening OUTSIDE, there was a major incident INSIDE...some no-ball coward from the UK stuck a female patron with a closed fist to her L ear, causing quite substantial damage and bleeding for her....as you can imagine, all the guys around who saw what happened wanted a piece of the guy, so it was a situation of trying to stop the guys head being smashed in, and everyone else trying to fight each other too...on the security footage he's running out the door, and just piss bolting away into the distance, as you can imagine, he wasn't found.....I think he was running all the way home...cops finally arrived for that one (I forgot to say too, there was the local cop inside with a bunch of other cops celebrating his Bucks Party)...and we kept trying to explain to them that it was two seperate incidents, not the same one as they kept saying it was...annoying at best...
Luckily enough, the last incident did not occur until 0030...where man mountain, seven foot odd, wide as a brick shit house, tried to kill someone else, so, took the two guards and his brother to get him out the door...
Bugger this...read the following report:
Report into incident at XXXX, XXXX, XXXX at 2240 on Saturday, 23 August 2008. Page 1 of 2
(As informed to XXXX by XXXX, XXXX, and CCTV footage.)
At approximately 2240 on Saturday, 23 August 2008, XXXX (233) requested assistance from XXXX (240) to effect removal of [M1], older person, approx 40 years old, blonde hair and goatee, khaki t-shirt, blue jeans from the pool tables in the XXXX Sports Bar. [M2] blue “FOX” t-shirt with ‘fox head’ design, blue jeans was standing around, as was [M3], khaki t-shirt with white long sleeve under shirt pushed to the elbows, blue jeans. M1 was requested to leave the XXXX for being intoxicated and drinking alcohol after being requested to stop by bar staff. DM XXXX was around the pool tables area, as was off duty manager XXXX.
M1 was effectively leaving the Sports Bar, but something was said to M1 by someone else, and after that there was a major altercation. 240 was in front to effect a clean exit path, and 233 was behind to ensure that M1 left. M1 started fighting with someone else, and 240 came from the front to attempt to break them up. 233 was behind attempting to do that same. 240 was tackled by M1 and someone else into the tables in the Sports bar, and 240 landed at the bottom of the pile. 240 had attempt to effect removal using a Surefire 6P Original flashlight approximately 13cm in length by temporarily blinding M1, and had it in his Right hand at the time 240 was tackled.
After getting hit behind the ear numerous times, 240 swung once with his Right hand, connecting with his fist and torch just over the Right eye of M1, drawing blood. During this time, M1 was screaming “I’m going to fucking kill you, you little cunt…” and after being hit by 240, M1 attempted to back away, saying, “I’m sorry sir, I won’t hit you again, I’m sorry, I’m going away now…” M1 kept repeating this.
During this time, 233 was attempting to get to 240, but kept getting hit in the back of his head by M2. M3 was on top of M1, who was at that stage attempting to remove himself from 240 on the ground.
233 grabbed 240, and affected a tactical withdrawal to decide what the next course of action to take. During this time, M1, M2, M3 and various other [M] and [F] were fighting between themselves. DM XXXX and XXXX were around too. The situation was too volatile at the time to affect any response.
M1 was eventually removed by [M] to the Sports Bar DOSA. 240 was at the door, and M2 came and said, “I’m going to go home and get my gun and come back and kill some people.” 240 told him to jest leave, at which stage M1 and their party came rushing towards the door.
240 was informed later that there was a second fight occurring between 2x [F], no descriptions, at this time.
M1 was finally ejected through the doors, and a full lockdown was immediately organised. Police arrived soon after (no times are available)
240 attended Caboolture Hospital at approximately 0200 on Sunday, 24 August 2008 for headaches, nausea and vomiting, bruising behind his Left ear, a cut approximately 1.5cm on this Right 5th finger above the knuckle and pain and tenderness over his Left thumb knuckle area.
Blood tests and an x-ray are organised for Tuesday, 26 August 2008 by Dr XXXX, XXXX, for Q-Comp. XXXX Security informed.
Incident recorded on CCTV video “2240 23082008 Sports Bar Exit & Pool Tables”

I'm also finally getting rid of stuff from the ex...decided to attempt to sell it off online...might bring joy to someone else somewhere...
Got my first house inspection in the morning too...first one in three years...so it should be quite interesting...hehe...
Now, on Sunday night, I was supposed to be working at the Sands Tavern to cover a concert...found out that night that it was the Hoodoo Gurus playing live...:D
Since I was taken off the roster (for obvious reasons) at about the time I was trying to post the original post (this has been sitting on my computer since then), the boss said that if I was interested, I could go in as a civvie and just watch the show...why not...:D Managed to get an autographed CD and poster for my troubles...:D :D :D :D :D
I'm going to go fold some clothes now...Spring Cleaning time soon anyway, so just starting a few days early...
Be safe.

On A Moonlit Night...
This past week has been an absolute pain and joy...figuratively and literally...and it's been long...though feeling as if it's gone by so fast...
The week ending 09 Aug 08 wasn't that bad, at the end, was feeling a bit depressed, I'll admit, but it ended on a good note...some issues from the weekend, one of the duty managers had to go to hospital when she got drink spiked, standard idiots who refused to leave and all that, but nothing physical...
Monday was slow as well, just bumming at home and sleeping a heap, Tuesday went to the doctors to get my first medical certificate in ages...it was worth it...got my drugs too...big arsed antibiotic pills...so, been taking them for the last five days...got to go get some probiotics sometime this week to stop it playing havoc with the stomach...and did some research between the difference between Transactional and Transformational leadership styles and their differing communications styles...for me, I personally do not know what leadership style I have...but once I do a bit more research, I'll tell you...
Wednesday was a fun day now...I had the option to go to two, one hour tutorial periods at uni, or work for the entire day...so, my day started with a blackout at 0100...total blackout, no street lights, uni was dark, it was dark...and a bit creepy truthfully...but meh...woke up at 0345, got picked up by Max at 0430...and down to Redcliffe by 0545 after a breakfast of Maccas...cash transfer day...my job was to secure the gates...it was cold...it was bad...seen my first sunrise in ages...finished at 0900, and waited while Sully came and picked my up...arrived at Eagle Farm Racecourse at 1000, and was put into a sector with Wombat, Todd, Eli and another guard...Arron was next door, as was Whopper and a few others from Brisbane area...it was alright, usual bunch of people like the ones that bring alcohol into the racecourse who are fined by QPS and sent away from the racecourse...and the removals after lunch, or standing between the track barriers and a temporary fence on stand up boxes...it was a fun filled day....the section was about 200m away from the finish post, so it was jammed...all the fun and games started at 1430...with someone jumping the temp barrier into the restricted area...so, the guard in the next section was having a cordial chat to him, then the idiot started having a swing...so, first things first, I had to jump a fence to get to them, by which stage the guy was on the ground, but seriously struggling...so I just dived on top of him, which did slow him down a considerable amount...FL3 restraints used, so reverse figure 4's...guy was removed for traspass and fined $5000 by QPS...I love it how there's a bylaw that makes it a finable offence for unauthorised persons to be in the trackside restricted area...
So, that guy's gone, came back to the sector, and just did a walk around, had a look here and there, then there was this one guy who had too much to drink, so Todd and I escorted him, without incident, to the main gates, and we were on the way back, when Todd shouted, "Nick, game on left..." and we both turned left to see a guard grappling with some idiot...so, Todd and I ran in and tackled the guy, tried to get him on the ground, and Todd disappeared (he was tackled by some other hero), so it was just me and this little shit...and he was screaming at me, I was screaming at him, and managed to get him on the ground, a bit of a wrestling match, but managed to overpower him, had someone in the crowd help me hold him down too by standing on his arm, and I was in the process of radioing for assistance (the radios were destroyed at the end of the scuffle) when some other hero came in from the crowd and kicked me in the back of the head...didn't see who it was, but I damned well sure wish I did...I did take it out on the guy I was restraining, screaming at him and more or less telling him to not say a word, not move, because it was because of him that I got kicked in the head, and if anything happened again, he was going to die....I think the fact, that throughout the entire altercation, my sunglasses did not come off my head, and he couldn't see my eyes, caused him to consider what I was saying; his face changed as soon as I finshed saying what I had to say...
So, final tally from that, one guy with a broken nose from being slammed into the ground head first, my guy who actually started the fight, so he spent the night in the watch house, got charged with assult and affray, and was sporting at least a broken arm (I did not have anything to do with that...eight guards had to carry him away when backup finally arrived and I was relieved of my person, and he was struggling all the way...and he also decided to give lip to the police officers, so they were not impressed with that...and reminded him of his manners...) one guard with a cut to his face, and me with a headache and a bunged left thumb...still hurts a tad, but all's good...I think my head snapped into my thumb while I was restraining the guy when I got kicked, all I remember was having a smashed radio, a pain in the back of my head and thumb, and Col just picking up all the different bits and pieces that the other guards had been shedding during the rumble...but it was fun...
The rest of the day at EF was semi uneventful, usual dumbarses that were giving shit to the cops who then got charged with public nucense, drunks who don't understand the meaning of "BAR'S CLOSED" and there's a line for the taxis...bastards, all of them...then I realise, was I like that last time before I became a guard...makes you want to give up drinking...
Thursday at the Sands Tavern for a band concert thingy...that was fun too....nothing really happened until the main act (of course), so management said "no crowdsurfers", so I was by the stage, and of course, there were crowdsurfers...90% of the ejections were standard just dragged them to the door and pushed them outside for the security super to sort out, but there was one guy who schnotted me in the head, and drew blood from my nose...lost a little skin off the top, but meh...he was an example of a classic bouncer ejection: one hand on collar, the other on belt, and since both my hands were full, had to use the thing furthest forward to open the door....just happened to be his head...so out the door he went...at that stage, the manager was standing there too, and both the super and her were just looking at this guy sailing through the air from the doors....and started grinning...:D...uneventful end to it too, nothing major...except one of the guys I was dragging out turned out to be the lead singer of the main band...all I saw was legs flying in the air, and went into the mosh pit to drag the guy out...and luckly got stopped at the door before he went out too...the other bands standing to the side were like, "mate, thanks for the entertainment, that was really cool..." I'll admit, I had fun...
Friday and Saturday nights at Narangba again...got threthened to be sued on Friday night by a guy who claims that he owns three pubs, and we were questioning at the end, why doesn't he drink at his own places...all we did was do the ID checks, and the policy at the pub was everyone had to have some form of photo ID on them, and we checked everyone, as per house policy...oh, and we were under staffed until 2200 too, because the guard that was supposed to come in at 2000 got lost in a big way...all good in the end though...anyway, Saturday was the same situation...had a guy claiming to be from Coles Group who's threthened to ensure that the company is not used anymore in their venues because of how we asked him for ID...all we said was, "Evening gentlemen, we're doing an ID check as per house policy, can we please see them..."and this guy went off his rocker, and starting going at the manager too...so, he's fully given us the third degree, but I called the boss, he's gone, "never heard of the guy, know what, we'll talk to Coles Group ourselves Monday..." The guy really did put himself in though when he admitted to us TWICE that he had been drinking at the pub since 1300...and the time was now 1930...meh, we'll sort that out tomorrow....also had some idiot try to get in with a mate's ID that didn't look anything like him...for one, the guy was about 160cm, and tubby, while the guy in the picture was 179cm, and lean....was even a different colour...found out later that this guy was banned for life, and the guy whose ID he tried to use was actually inside after using his 18+ card...now, even funnier was the fact that this kid was removed after exposing himself, and I was standing right in front of him...just tapped him on the head, and went, nup, mate, not going back in...automatic six month ban for exposure...and I had his drivers license already from his mate...then had a little shit try to square off...nothing happened...but I was waiting for it...I'm disliking 18th birthday partys now...bloody group was opening the security doors and all that, and we were bloody close to getting rid of the lot of them...a normal day would be like, maybe one, two pages in my note pad...Saturday night was five...which really shitted me off too...but oh well, everything's to be documentated...
So, what now? I'm going to nurse some deep fried lamb chops and chips, and a bag of steamed veges and we'll go from there....:)
Be safe.

TL:DR
So, one month in a shorty...
Two weeks in Bathurst, didn't pack up the house, got locked out, watched alot of Stargate SG-1. Stayed with Craig for two days then Lena and the boys for the remainder. Attended Dave's bucks party (paintball) and wedding to Glenda.
Family came to Bathurst to pick me up, then we went to Kiama to drop mum off while sis, Mike, Steven and Jo and I went to Canberra for Days in the Diocese.
Danced in Civic, met up with Summa, danced more at EPIC, and celebrated a French Mass that was televised straight to France. Made new friends.
Monday 14 July 2008 went from Canberra to Sydney to start World Youth Day duties with St John Ambulance. Met Ricky at the Welcome Dinner at the Roundhouse...friend ever since.
Tuesday and Friday at Barangaroo (after a double at Darling Harbour Friday morning where there was a Hit-and-Run), Wednesday and Thursday at the Domain, Saturday night at Randwick Racecourse...and Saturday touring around Sydney with Ricky and Hywel...
Flew back Monday 21 July 2008 to Maroochydore, went to Brisbane to spend quality time with family from Tuesday until Thursday. Went to Warner Brothers Movieworld on the Gold Coast.
Friday, did my induction and got new uniform items for work, and that nigt was at Narangba Tavern; three fights, one ambulance call out.
Saturday morning was helping to protect the Prime Minister while he was at Nambour RSL to dedicate a new Wall of Rememberance and acknowledge Nambour RSL's 90 years of operation. Saturday night was at Redcliffe and having numerous escorts, especially of two older idiots towards the end of the night...
-----
Got drunk last night after talking to Grace (found a bag of my stuff finally under the TV that's been sitting there since Wed), she's now going out with Damien, who she met while I was there, before we went out...but she was quite friendly with him already since, so it was kinda inevitable...so much for her high horse stance about not going out with any guy because she doesn't trust them...and she made it clear she didn't want anything to do with me again...oh well, screw it...
Had a chat with Viviana, and things got interesting...
Also called Ricky in South Africa, and had a chat to his mum for a little while (she broke some ribs a few days ago, so she's recouperating at home....hope she heals well...)
Apart from that, just been typing up the past few posts most of the afternoon, and now about to organise some grub and write a letter I promised to Viv earlier in the morning...
Right, last time I'm going to mention Grace....period.
Be safe.

And It's Back To Work...Part 4...Finally...
So, after that phone call on Tuesday last week to confirm my shifts for the weekend, I had to go back to the office on Friday to perform an induction and pick up my new uniform for work...That went well, just filled in alot of paperwork, signed my life away, and picked up shirts and a new tie...plus another shift for Saturday morning...
Picture right...
So anyhow, also got my shifts changed so I went to Narangba Tavern on Friday night, and Redcliffe on Saturday night...now, Narangba is a nice place, good sized crowd, and minimal problems...except for three fights, a girl who claimed to be from Liquor Licensing (who the police talked to...), an ambulance that rushed from Royal Brisbane Hospital (40 mins away in 20 mins) for one guy from the last fight that took a swan dive off the top of the pavement into the ground head first...and I was standing right in front of him and I missed him...that seriously sucked, because he was out cold...and by the time the ambos arrived, he's regained consciousness, didn't know where the hell he was, and refused treatment and transport, so they left pissed off (as were we and the manager)...
Heard later that there was a heap of shit hitting the fan around the place too, Cabooulture RSL had a fire alarm and evacuated, and there was an all in out the front, as did Redcliffe in the taxi line...they had 15 kids with their shirts off freezing in the cold because they had ripped them off during the brawl, and they were ripped, and the guards just looked at them and were like, idiots...so, action packed Friday night...
Saturday was the Prime Minister's visit to Nambour RSL to dedicate the new Wall of Rememberance, and also celebrate and acknowledge Nambour RSL's 90 years in operation...it was an interesting time, and I also got run over by a protester in a motorised wheelchair...well, not run over run over, but the bastard kept snapping at my knees and hip with that damned wheelchair...until I said to him, "Sir, stop what you are doing now, and move back two feet. What I am asking you is not unreasonable." He stopped, and moved back the two feet, but still kept snapping into me...."quite political" was how the security chief described him after they called the nursing home that he was from...
Saturday night was a good one...I was one of two roamers, and I hope to keep at that; we had multiple removals for disorderly behaviour, including one where the guy was passed out in his chair, so they woke him up, and were escorting him to the doorway, and he was screaming and making a scene that he'll get his lawyers onto us for ruining his night...uh huh...so anyway, M1 was smarting outside, and we were continuing to remove people one by one...it was near constant...and in that time too, had to maintain ono some people that slammed into one of the guards, but couldn't get to him because there were other priority removals...including this small Scottish fellow...M2 we shall call him...he was carried out the front door, while Oli and myself were talking to M1, who had started complaining that it was cold, but was sitting there to prove a point that he wasn't taking our crap...idiot...anyhow, M2 was like, "Little girls, all of you...don't know shit....blah blah blah...." And when he was eyeing off everyone there, he was like, "you all better listen....you....you....you.............." And finally to me where he went, "you, especially you, you fucking gook..." I stepped up, but Todd went, "hey, disregard, we both know you've been called worst..." And it's true, I've been called worst...but when he made a move to try to attack me, we kinda escorted him to the main gate, all the while M1 started getting combative too, so they took him out too...now, M2, adrenaline courousing through him, was a little dynamo...
He tripped, I swear...the videos will show that M2 and M1 both tripped over...it just so happened that my knee slammed into the back of one of M2's knees accidentally, and since he was getting awfully close to kicking me due to him not liking Asians, I just snapped a quick jab into the side of his leg near the knee, between the hamstring and quadracepts...I missed the first time, so I had to crack the other leg......and I missed again....woopse...he wasn't moving much either though, Col (all 150kgs of him) had relaxed when the M2 tripped over, and was now flopped over him...M1 had too much to drink at this stage too, and face planted into the ground...in the end, both had broken noses, I think, but then again, the carpark needs to be resurfaced, it's dark at places, and there's potholes everywhere...
It was a long evening...

Oh...And An Endurance Record To Boot...
I forgot to add...did my endurance record over the weekend...
It's been a while since I last lived in a shirt for over 24 hours, but it was interesting to say the least...I calculated it to 36 hours on the trot without sleep...there was a shut eye, but I was still keeping one ear open for anything...
All started on Friday...was around 1700 that I got a phone call from St John in Sydney saying that my accreditation papers arn't in yet for WYD...WTF? I sent them off months ago...anyway, I said look, just send me another copy, and I'll get them to you Monday, I'll figure them out Sunday when I finish work...went to work with PJ and Shingles (another story for another day) at the Alex Hills Hotel...left here at 2030...got there at 2200, then worked there until 0330...now, the plan was, to stick around Brisvagas and go to the casino and just bum around until 0800, when I was supposed to be dropped off at Eagle Farm...they decided to leave at 0430 back to SunCo...a quarter of the way in, Shingles decided he was too tired to continue driving, and PJ can't drive with his revoked license....who did that leave behind? So, drove all the way back home, and arrived at my house at 0555...the GPS said so...left my wallet in the car too...anyway, managed to get a lift back to Eagle Farm...and they were nice enough to pick up my wallet from Shingle's place too...at 0710...we finally got to EF at 0830...and got told that the gates did not open until 1030...so, we were getting paid for two hours to just sit there and wait...not complaining...anyway, finished there at 1800, got a lift to Redcliffe, and started my shift there at 1900...finished at 0130, but Oli and I had to go to the copshop to give a statement about the guy from earlier (refer to other post about the threat)...that finally finished, we went to Caboolture Maccas to have a late dinner at 0330...finally got on the road and arrived home at 0445...finally got to sleep with some help at 0545...I was surviving on No Doze Plus, Panadine Forte, V's Berocca, and Maccas...healthy, I'm sure...
Blargh...
Be safe...

QR Codes, Work, Flights, Cold...
Right, it's been a while since the last blog, eh?
Just been busy...real busy...with work...not going too badly, has it's moments, surely, but all in all, interesting and rather fun...got a good crew that I work with regularly, the pay's alright, I've got their backs, and they've got mine, so we're all good...just marathon shifts over the past few weeks because I'm leaving in a few hours back to Bathurst and Sydney for the next month...so, got all cashed up for what needs to be done down there...mainly move the last of the stuff from the unit up to here...
So, I've logged jobs at Redcliffe, Marybrough, Alexandra Hills and Eagle Farm (both in Brisbane), Sands Tavern, Lake Kawana Community Centre and Corbuld Park (those three on the Coast)...as with St John and everything else in the past, there's alot of travel time that goes into it...luckly enough, getting paid to be a passenger to jobs now too...so, a little extra on top...and weekend shifts are always good....but public holidays (which I've worked on one so far) are the best of all...getting tired, but luckly enough, weekends are a bit longer than usual...
"We all do as we must to make our way in this world and unfortunately, sometimes we have to do things others may qualify as 'evil'; either get used to the idea or you're not going to last long....."
I'm too nice a guy I believe...actually, I know...I pretend to be all hard on the outside, but inside, as G once said, it's in turmoil...and soft and squishy...I should be over her...but I'm not...was talking to Katie about it actually...and about what happened over the weekend...there was a guy we ejected from Redcliffe, for intox and disorderly behaviour...he was really gunning for it (no pun intended, as it'll be made clear shortly)...he threthened Oli and myself with deadly force, by going to his car and getting his gun and coming back and shooting all of us...now, wether he was drugged and/or drunk to the eyeballs is a given, but still, when a threat like that is made, it has to be acted upon...since I was the guard on the door, it's my responsibility to ensure that the patrons coming in are of legal age, and are not intoxicated, and those that are and have been removed do not come back in...so, yours truly was standing outside looking at this guy, making sure that he did not really go to his car to grab a gun and come back...and all I could think about was Grace...I know it's a bit of a pipe dream about getting back with her...since she did make it very clear that she didn't want anything to do with me ever again...but the only thing I could think about was exchanging that moment to just see her again one last time...and when the guy did make a move for his car, allow me to ensure you that it was nearly a running tackle to him if he so much as went to his boot first instead of a door...TL:DR, he drove off, but we were keeping a close eye for the rest of the night towards the main gate in case a car comes flying in and straffs the doors...
In other news, I met someone at the club too that used to live in Bathurst...and was actually Bill's old boss before he moved back...didn't know it, but he looked really familiar, then we just started talking, next thing he went, oh yea, I was in Bathurst...!...then it's uh....Bill's mate, right....and yup...there you go...small world that it is...
I've got a new business card too; as Steve said, it's a bit wanky to have a business card with no business on it, but I've designed it in such a way that it's different from normal ones...I mean, there are ones already out with it, but it's just a bit of a novelty...it's got QR barcodes on them...now, for those who do now know what QR Codes are, just do a search for them...I've encoded the ones on my card to go to certain places that are importaint to me, such as this blog...there's no lettering, just pixles...and you require a reader to decypher them, using your camera phone (I've downloaded a program to do just that...Kaywa Reader is what it's called) but anyway, if they can read that, and actually know what it is without me explaining to them, then they are more than welcome to contact me that way...
I'm not sure what else to write...so I guess I'll be packing now...one month...two bags...and hopefully a new laptop at the end of it...

Be safe.

Ads, Rain, Cricket and Ricki Lee...
There are too many ads on TV...especially on Ten...every 2 mins and 34 seconds (the shortest time between ad breaks when I was watching House last week) or so, an ad would pop up...now, I understand that companies pay big $$$ to plaster their names and products across the screen....but seriously, guys...ad breaks that last longer than the segment of show that was what people originally tuned in for? Seriously?
The inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 series has finished, with a to the line outcome in the final...last over, the Chennai Super Kings (led by MS Dohni) were 163-5, with the Rajahstan Royals (Warne) chasing through some of the inning...then it came down to the last two overs...the Royals were needing 18 runs of 12 balls...long story short, last ball, of the last over...with scores level...Royals did it by just running...great effort by Tanvir and Warne to get back though....good fielding by the Kings...anyway, final score after 20 overs CSK 163-5, RR 164-7....and USD1.2 mil richer...
So...how was the first day of my new job with Queensland Hospitality and Security Services? It was wet...very very very wet...and I was under cover most of the day too...I was at Corbuld Park for the Ladies Oaks Day...but it rained...to 0900 on Friday, there was 58+ mm of rain, plus abour 20 from Thursday...it was soaked...I was put on the Admin gate, so only Turf club members, committee and people with a good reason were allowed through my way...there was about 3500 people in the end, but only 54 came through my gate...including Ricki Lee...which was rather interesting...I've rubbed shoulders with dignitaries and famous people before (like Hilary Clinton and Peter Brock), but they were always made up to look like they normally do on TV or where ever you see them...Ricki Lee, on the other hand, just got off the plane, or something, and arrived quietly at the side entrance...and looked like every other normal person on the street...except she had one of the guys with her and her manager (I think anyway) and obviously the turf club's PR person...or was it the radio stations' people...something like that anyway...yea, she was standing less than two feet away from me...which was rather cool...smelt like vanilla...dressed in jeans and a cardigan...about half an hour later, she was dressed like the singer she is, skirt, shoes, make up and everything...and off they went...during that time, we had a jumper...well, a group of them actually...there was about six of them, but one young kid (couldn't have been older than eighteen. which was why he was probably refused entry in the first place, or for intox), broke away and started running around...I was still at the gate, listening in to Adrian (who was in the sector next to mine) saying into the radio that the guys were running all over the place and to send back up...next thing you know, there's this head peaking out the side of the wall, and I'm looking straight at him, and just shouted at him...he gave up, but kept walking away (I'm on the other side of this fence)...called it in on the radio...and all these guys come bounding over and boof, down he goes...since he was in a double enclosure, the cops actually arrested him for trespass...but man....it was MESSY...in the first ten minutes of the race course actually opening, there was 23 refusals/ejections for intox, and before lunch, there was six arrests...there was one guy that was glassed on the side of his face/head with a bottle, and the guy that did the glassing had his fingers hanging off...there was a dislocated shoulder (no one really knew how that one happened...just the bloke came over and said, "Uh, I think I've hurt myself...") had girls who were drinking all day stand up and just go plunk...mud, water...they ran two races, then had to abandon all the other races, it was just too wet...and bloody dangerous too...there was fights and all that breaking out (when you put lots of alcohol [there was supposed to be about 11000 people there that day, so they geared up for 11000 people...when only 3500 show up...you do the math], limited space to stay dry under, and a cold, wet and windy place, tensions are sure to erupt)...glad Grace didn't go like she kinda planned...it was bloody dangerous...
Anyhow, wet boots and all, signed off finally at 1730 (which was earlier than the planned 1900), and asked if and where I was going that night...Sully said Redcliffe...which is about an hour and a bit away...yay...so, off I went with Clay (the Supervisor for the night)...the whole shift in the gaming room....very interesting for me...people who know me know I don't mind putting some through the pokies...so I was surrounded by 280 of them (the maximum in QLD apparently) and nearly a million $ in money...it was interesting working with the guys too, there was a few tips that Clayton (another guard) told me and showed me about IDs and all those things, or how to notice little things (that I probably used to do as well subconsciously when I was a punter instead of a guard)...quite a learning curve...and fun...finally got home from a wet first day about $270 richer...at 0400...long day...
Saturday was still raining...and in the afternoon, got a call from Sully going, Nick, you're at the Sands Tavern tonight...at least it's a bit more local, and familiar too (Lee started there his first night, and when he used to be there I got a lift in with him and walked to the Pig for drinks, and walked back later in the evening if he was still there)...so, started at a private function, then to the main door for the bands that were going to be playing that night...and learned more about IDs from Whopper (who's been doing this for close to 35 years), tricks with stamping people with pass out markers, how to look for things...again...it's all a learning curve...Steve (who I've met and talked to numerous times before from when he was a guard at the Pig) also helped me with little things, as did Tony (the Sup for the night, who used to be at Chancellors, the pub nearest to where I live)...all in all, a good night...could have turned messy, but didn't, thankfully...the lead singer for one of the bands celebrated his birthday at midnight...and had the bright idea to climb to the top of the speaker stack and jump into the crowd...yours truly was standing next to said speaker stack, which was a good 2.5 m high, and when the idiot climbed it, it started wobbling over the top of me didn't it...so, there I am, holding up this damned speaker stack while this dude climbed up....and dived into the crowd....now....it could have gone out either way....he crash and broke his neck, or crashed and crowd surfed...luckily for all involved, it turned into the latter, but everyone was still shaking their heads at the idiotic nature of the stunt...
So...three shifts...about $385 and change before deductions...should be a good little thing...so, we'll see how this pans out...haven't had anything major go down yet...but it's still early days yet...
Apart from that, my first semester at the University of the Sunshine Coast has finally come to an end...just got to wait three weeks until my exams...two exams...on the last two days of the exam period...which sounds about right for my luck...
Right, I'm finally sleepy...so I'll head...
Be safe...I'll try to be....

Here I Stand....
I'VE GOT MY SECURITY LICENSE CARD!
Arrived in the mail...:D
So, where does that put me? I've now got a definitive job (at least, I hope so), so, some $$$ will be coming in at least...and at $20 an hour, minus about $15 a week for a retainer (everyone has to pay), super fees and all that, and around $30 in tax, to a maximum of 20 hours a week (but only during semester, which tomorrow is the last day, then it's how ever much I wish to work), that'll still give me about $355 a week...being conservative about it, I dare say I can really start saving now too...whoo!
It's been cool and rainy all day, and quite possibly until Sunday...muchly needed, but not so cool on a prospective first day outside at the races...(race day tomorrow)...at least, come to think of it, crowd numbers could be a bit lower than expected, and hopefully not so many issues to worry about because of the weather...
Only a shorty tonight, got to do that presentation, and that leaves only 2 more essays that I can work on over the weekend....they'll be a few days late, but better than nothing I guess...
Be safe, I'll try to be too...

Why Can't I Be A Baby?
Well, at times, Grace and others call me a big baby...maybe I am, but after tonight, I definitely wish I was...
(No disrespect to Grace or what we talked about earlier...it was what happened after - and I'm still trying to figure out - that's got me wishing...)
Now, if asked the question, "If you could change anything in your life, what would you change?" My answer normally is, "Nothing, because if I changed anything, I wouldn't be here at this moment in time answering your question." That's changed in recent weeks, but we'll leave it at that...now, before I get to what I'm actually doing, let me explain how my week has been thus far:
I've got four assignments due in this week, a presentation Friday night, a job interview with QHSS and a meeting at the university on Wednesday morning and afternoon respectively, a quasi-relationship that's sort of hanging somewhere around here and a headache.
Now, people who've known me for a long time have seen me do more with less, but on that same token, have also seen me snap; rest assured, I'm not going to snap, unless it's my pen and the people who write up these member guides for superannuation funds...which brings me to this:
The job interview went well, but I cannot officially work until I have my security license in hand, which is fair enough...but now, comes the paperwork...
Since I left Stannies all those years ago, I was under the Non-Government Schools (NGS) Superannuation Fund, and I think I had about $240 in there while I was working; this is now down to something like $74.78 or something like that due to member fees every year, admin etc etc etc and it's a dead fund for me, because I'm not longer working in a "non-government school"...
Security officers/crowd controllers are covered under the AustralianSuper Superannuation Fund, and since I've never had any dealings with them, I've got to apply for membership. Sully (the ops manager for the SunCo QHSS) provided me with a book from AustralianSuper and said to fill in the relevant forms at the back of the book and send it to them...one of said forms is the "Transfer your superannuation into AustralianSuper" form...which is what I need for the transfer of my pittance from NGS to AustralianSuper...problem is, since I haven't really been keeping note of my membership number with NGS, I'm in a pickle...
Add on top of that the joining of a new fund too; "What is your threshold, do you just want 'Death and TDP (Total and Permanent Disability)' or the addition of 'Personal Income Protection' insurance cover (which the former is compulsory at an additional $3 a week), who are your beneficiaries in the event of you dying...one of the funny things I read, and again, very true, was about the duration of your insurance cover; so anyway, there's the list of what happens, you move overseas, you transfer to a different fund, you cancel in writing etc etc etc or "you die, which ever comes first." Nicely put...
Argh.
Which now brings me back to the title...
Why can't I be a baby?
I get to sleep all day, I get to poop my pants without embarrassment, burp and vomit after eating without any looks of disgust, get carried everywhere, get 'cooed and oooo'd' by people, not walk, not talk, not go to school or study, not work, not pay taxes, not worry about superannuation, not care..............
Sigh...bugger huh? Hehe...
I'm going to sleep now...and hopefully don't do what's aforementioned...especially poop my pants, because that'll just be embarrassing...hahahahahahaha.....
Be safe...

How Does I Life Good?
It's been an interesting few weeks...
I've finally got the internet, my visa, the reference letters (for my security license) and my assignments nearly in order...looking forward to this week coming; license -finally- getting issued, interview with QHSS (the security company), and hopefully...hopefully...start work on Friday or Saturday...
Unfortunately, Grace and I broke up...long story, not something that I'm going to get into with too much details...I'm good, had a few chats to Grace about it...and I just hope that she's ok too...it was a bit of an overreaction, I think, but that's life...but she is still a friend, and we still see each other every other day at uni...but I do miss her...and still feel for her...in a big way...
*Sigh* Cooking is going full steam ahead...been cooking quite a bit actually...lets see now, so far, in the last two weeks, I've cooked:
Not much, I know, but not doing too badly I don't think....made them large enough to have at least 3 serves for each batch, so there's 21 meals there...and on top of that, I don't eat every meal at home (I do splurge every now and then, like Saturday night for dinner...300g "petit" rump, medium well, with pepper sauce and steak chips...good stuff that...), and I do also have the odd meal at the university Brasserie, or just skip a meal...but oh well, that happens....
I'm thinking I might do something similar to the baked rice for this Friday coming...the university is hosting a group of West Papuan school teachers who are working on their English and all that, and my Friday night class is having them in to have a bit of a chat and all...and everyone's bringing in a plate too to share....so I might just do that....hmm...or salt and pepper chicken drumletts, quick, easy, and ovenable...
*Yawn* I might go catch some zzzz's...getting a tad sleepy...
So, be safe...

- Honey Soy Chicken with Thin Hokkien Noodles and Shredded Egg Omelette
- Spinach and Feta Tortellini (from a packet) with a Chorizo and Capsicum Sauce

- Baked Rice with Chicken, Mushroom and Capsicum

Internet, Internet, Where For Art Thou, Internet...
No, I have not died...nor have I gotten the internet yet at my new place...and I also used up my internet quota at the uni...so, very, very limited access to everything at the moment (had to wait two days to get this thing running)...
New unit is nearly fully unpacked, and it's good...got Azheel and Aisha (from the old house) to move in temporally while they get out of the other place and find their own joint...but there's also the option for them staying on...so we'll see how that pans out...
Midget paid up...still $20 short the bastard...but I'm going to inform the uni that that's the case, and follow their advise...if they say leave the $20, well, there's not much I can do about that huh? Just going to keep within the rules on this one...
Oh yea, ANZAC Day was Friday too, and went with the St John division to Nambour for the Main Service...it was interesting and a really good one actually...went up with Erin to put the wreath up, and I don't think I've ever seen so many Serving Brothers and Sisters of St John (one of those level things you get after being in for years and years) in one division (probably at a State dooda, but not in a division!)...
Lee also had his first night as a security officer on Friday at The Sands Tavern...there was a concert on there, and only four guards...I didn't want to go in (there was a $30 ticket thingy), so I tottled over to the Pig for Friday night drinkies...all well and good, had a few, then headed back when they closed and just waited at The Sands...started having a chat to Aston, one of the other guards who I met earlier, and all was good, until there was a little biff in the car park...so, off he goes, Lee comes screaming out, that gets sorted...they both come back, and we were all chatting outside near the main doors (this was within 10 mins of the biff happening), and everyone was leaving and all that...next thing you knew, one of the girls from inside comes out and goes, "Any guard interested in stopping two blokes from knocking each other's blocks off?" So, they go back in and grab the guys...they eject them both, then some smart arse decided to jump in and be a hero...so an all in ensues...and it was messy...
Aston came out of it with a black eye after he was lifted up and kissed the side of a car, Tony (the security chief) had his shirt torn, Jamie (the other guard) just kept everyone back, as did I, and Lee...I'm not sure what he did, but he was at the other end of the car park...it was really, really messy...long story short, they were supposed to knock off at 0130, finally finished an hour later, then Lee and I went to the all night fry up to get some dinner, and all was good...by the time we got to my place, it was 0400...and just didn't feel like sleeping...until 0700ish...
Saturday was my mummy's birthday...gave her a call, and had a nice little chat to her about things...and they were in Miri to celebrate and have dinner and stay overnight in the Marriott...she was telling me how her Year 1 class ambushed her at the door in the morning to sing Happy Birthday to her and all that...hehe...and they were in a shopping centre and they were getting excited because Adidas had half price shoes on sale...so she was asking me what size my foot was, which is a 12...next thing I knew, she was saying for me not to get too excited, my sister was wearing size 13's, and my brother in law was wearing size 15's...they've both got smaller feet than I do...hehe...so I probably would have been wearing size 20's or something using that scale...
Grace and her mate Sharon (from Kuching, Malaysia, but stays in Brunei) came over for lunch on Saturday too...cooked up Coca Cola marinated lamb chops with mashed potato and broccoli...came out really well actually...had to boil down the Coke first though, then cool it before pouring it over the lamb on Friday night (before we went to The Sands)...had a nice lunch and a chat to Sharon while Grace went and crashed for a few...
Ok, I'm going to finish this here...just remembered I've got to try to track down Grace in Facebook...:)
Be safe.
