I'VE GOT MY SECURITY LICENSE CARD!
Arrived in the mail...:D
So, where does that put me? I've now got a definitive job (at least, I hope so), so, some $$$ will be coming in at least...and at $20 an hour, minus about $15 a week for a retainer (everyone has to pay), super fees and all that, and around $30 in tax, to a maximum of 20 hours a week (but only during semester, which tomorrow is the last day, then it's how ever much I wish to work), that'll still give me about $355 a week...being conservative about it, I dare say I can really start saving now too...whoo!
It's been cool and rainy all day, and quite possibly until Sunday...muchly needed, but not so cool on a prospective first day outside at the races...(race day tomorrow)...at least, come to think of it, crowd numbers could be a bit lower than expected, and hopefully not so many issues to worry about because of the weather...
Only a shorty tonight, got to do that presentation, and that leaves only 2 more essays that I can work on over the weekend....they'll be a few days late, but better than nothing I guess...
Be safe, I'll try to be too...

Who Is The Black Chinaman?

- Saving someone's life is like falling in love. The best drug in the world. For days, sometimes weeks afterwards, you walk the streets, making infinite whatever you see. Once, for a few weeks, I couldn't feel the earth - everything I touched became lighter. Horns played in my shoes. Flowers fell from my pockets. You wonder if you've become immortal, as if you've saved your own life as well. God has passed through you. Why deny it, that for a moment there - why deny that for a moment there, God was you? I realised that my training was useful in less than ten percent of the calls, and saving lives was rarer than that. After a while, I grew to understand that my role was less about saving lives than about bearing witness. I was a grief mop. It was enough that I simply turned up. Living and working back in Brunei, after a 14 year absence... Also known as: Brunei, NASA, Bruise-Eye, Bru, Cheesecake, Nick, BruNick, BruMedNick, Two Step etc etc etc
