So...
Why do people fall in love? And at the end, always some how hurt the ones we love the most? Be it as a failure, a leech, a disappointment...many different ways of describing that feeling of haplessness...
One simple line...at the correct moment...could so easily destroy everything...then you try to go into damage control, but as with everything, once there's a crack, the vessel is not as it used to be...
I'll always remember discussing this with someone, earlier when we were still not knowing what was going on...
The Japanese have the right idea with broken things...in our "age of the disposables", they actually put gold gilt on the edges of their items, say, a broken vase, and then join them up again, so, instead of trying to hide the cracks, they actually accentuate them, and in doing so too, actually make the item more valuable...
You are always going to meet people in your life that hurt you in some way or other, but it's how you react after that is a testament to your character...
"Love is patient, love is kind..." its application into simple, everyday acts such as cooking makes things taste so much better...there's nothing fake, just wholesome goodness...
In other news, I'm on the front cover of "One St John", St John NSW's monthly mag with Justin and Leonie, and we're holding onto the WYD Cross...link below...

And there's only one more teaching week of my first semester here at USC, so it's going to get quite interesting...it's had its moments, don't get me wrong, but to an extent, it's been fun...
Be safe.

Who Is The Black Chinaman?

- Nick
- Kuala Belait, Brunei
- Saving someone's life is like falling in love. The best drug in the world. For days, sometimes weeks afterwards, you walk the streets, making infinite whatever you see. Once, for a few weeks, I couldn't feel the earth - everything I touched became lighter. Horns played in my shoes. Flowers fell from my pockets. You wonder if you've become immortal, as if you've saved your own life as well. God has passed through you. Why deny it, that for a moment there - why deny that for a moment there, God was you? I realised that my training was useful in less than ten percent of the calls, and saving lives was rarer than that. After a while, I grew to understand that my role was less about saving lives than about bearing witness. I was a grief mop. It was enough that I simply turned up. Living and working back in Brunei, after a 14 year absence... Also known as: Brunei, NASA, Bruise-Eye, Bru, Cheesecake, Nick, BruNick, BruMedNick, Two Step etc etc etc
