Who Is The Black Chinaman?

Saving someone's life is like falling in love. The best drug in the world. For days, sometimes weeks afterwards, you walk the streets, making infinite whatever you see. Once, for a few weeks, I couldn't feel the earth - everything I touched became lighter. Horns played in my shoes. Flowers fell from my pockets. You wonder if you've become immortal, as if you've saved your own life as well. God has passed through you. Why deny it, that for a moment there - why deny that for a moment there, God was you? I realised that my training was useful in less than ten percent of the calls, and saving lives was rarer than that. After a while, I grew to understand that my role was less about saving lives than about bearing witness. I was a grief mop. It was enough that I simply turned up. Living and working back in Brunei, after a 14 year absence... Also known as: Brunei, NASA, Bruise-Eye, Bru, Cheesecake, Nick, BruNick, BruMedNick, Two Step etc etc etc

"The end is near, It is nearly upon us! The Day of Judgement is nigh...QUICK, EVERYONE, LOOK BUSY!"
-Author Unknown-

Power has been restored...the entire town (ie: street lights, external lights...) just experienced a blackout, and I can asure you, it was freaky...nothing was moving, purely because you couldn't see anything...all inky darkness...the sounds of the jungle just swept through town; crickets, cicadas, and who knows what else...imagine your worst nightmare...the one with the "dark mist" swirling around your ankles, enveloping you in the putrid stench of rotting flesh, and not being able to shake it...it's night, and it just gets darker and darker and darker......and times that by a hundred, or two...for those who haven't experienced anything like that, it's freaky...in daylight, at the best of times, the jungle is dark...only guess what happens at night...

MUHAHAHAHA...

Anyway, enough horror for one night...*sheesh*...just kidding about the worst nightmare bit...it was actually a "fun" filled night...well, it would have been better, if only Bevin had shared...;) (only kidding babe)...and yea, nothing else happened...just that it was dark and a pain in the butt trying to find the torchlight (I could have sworn it was there)...thank goodness for emergency lighting but...

Flo's gone back to school...and I'm counting the days until I have to make that same sojourn too...not all that to long actually...9 or so days...bugger hey? I'm only coming back in December, so that should be interesting too: Flo's going to Nottingham University in...Nottingham, England (bloody Poms...) so I'll probably miss her if she's going over straight after school ends in July...bummer...

In other news, I've submitted this blog to be added to the Blogwise Directory (see button, right)...at this time there are 1244 blogs in the queue and will take me 25 days to get on...but I guess that's a start...

Well, nothing more...another day, another memory...
