Who Is The Black Chinaman?

Saving someone's life is like falling in love. The best drug in the world. For days, sometimes weeks afterwards, you walk the streets, making infinite whatever you see. Once, for a few weeks, I couldn't feel the earth - everything I touched became lighter. Horns played in my shoes. Flowers fell from my pockets. You wonder if you've become immortal, as if you've saved your own life as well. God has passed through you. Why deny it, that for a moment there - why deny that for a moment there, God was you? I realised that my training was useful in less than ten percent of the calls, and saving lives was rarer than that. After a while, I grew to understand that my role was less about saving lives than about bearing witness. I was a grief mop. It was enough that I simply turned up. Living and working back in Brunei, after a 14 year absence... Also known as: Brunei, NASA, Bruise-Eye, Bru, Cheesecake, Nick, BruNick, BruMedNick, Two Step etc etc etc

Once A Year We Celebrate, With Stupid Hats And Plastic Plates, The Fact That You Were Able To Make Another Trip Around The Sun...............

So…I’m 22 years old now…I think, so far this year, I’ve been the happiest I’ve been personally in a long time...I mean, it’s not the same brand of happiness like when I see my family or stuff like that, but just generally…I’ve got a job lined up, I’m going –alright- at uni, I’ve got probably the greatest girlfriend (well, for me anyway) in the world, new friends up here, know for sure who were really my friends back in Bathurst and I’ve got a place that I’m happy with…so, things are going well…:)

I’ve been in touch with the security company that I’m planning on working for, and had a chat to their operations manager on Saturday night, and he was saying, call some time next week to organise a meeting time and –hopefully- I’ll have my license by then too…so I could very well be beginning work next weekend…if I take all the shifts given to me, that should be a good pay packet too…but damn, just realised…I don’t have a bloody work visa yet….damnit…I’ll have to give the Department of Immigration a call tomorrow and have a quick chat to them about that…I still haven’t heard anything back from them, and it’s been over a month since my medical…

Speaking of medicals, I’ve got to go and see a doctor today at 1130; something’s up with my wrist (no, it’s not wankers cramp)…it bunged up last week Thursday, and there’s enough pain there to know it’s there, and it comes and goes…definitely when I flex my wrist towards my body…still got full (if painful) rotation…pain 1-2/10, so it’s nearly nothing, but knowing that pain is the body’s way of telling you something’s up, and the fact that it’s been there for nearly a week is saying something…if I get my license, visa and this job next week, I’ve definitely got to be in a healthy state, including all joints…

Apart from that, I’ve been in contact with Telstra, and asked where my damned internet modem was…as of yesterday AM…it’s still in the bloody warehouse…I asked the bloke why it was still there, and he said that the contractor that dispatches the items is slacking…and apologies and all that…and I was like, that’s not good enough…I might actually ask for an extra month or two at half price, or even this month free, since I’m already paying for access…and I don’t even have the damned modem! But yea, the house is ready for connection, all the wires have been installed, just waiting for when the modem arrives so I can stick the stuff in the right places and work from there…

Also, I’ve bought myself a new TV for my birthday…LG 51cm flatscreen…nice “little” shiny black number…this is going to be an investment item, so I’m going to have to be extra nice to it…got a new LG DVD player too, all on the cheap (the electrical warehouse was having a sale over the weekend, so I got some really good deals)…

Anyway, I’d better get back into this…

Be safe.
