So, first night down in Bathurst...not that I'm complaining...it was a great sleep...in my own bed...I'm now torn between selling the damned behemoth and taking it with me...it's such a good bed...*sigh*...as for electrical stuff, I dare say I'll be having a chat to Bill about all this and that, and he's indicated that he'll buy the fridge and appliances on a payment plan...well, I can't exactly go, "Sorry dude, we've known each other for eight years, you're me best mate, but the fridge and everything else has got to go..." I'll feel bad...so, reassessment of money for the Coast, looks like it'll be trickling in instead of lump sums...
So, just made a phone call to the real estate agents up on the Coast, and they were really nice about it...explained to them about Midget, and that I didn't have a roof over my head...then she said this, "So, when were you planning on moving in? I'll give the owner a call, obviously she has a final say, but I'll either call or email you later today." I'm not sure to take that positively or negatively, but I'm going to be Optimistic Nick today (and for the next few) and be positive that I will get this unit and move in next Wed when I get back up there...but unfortunately now, I cannot pack since I don't know if I'm getting this unit or not...since I've already seen the place and gauged how much room there is in the unit, I can pack accordingly and sell whatever else (or throw out)...
So, if you were thinking that was the mysterious phone call, think again...I put my phone on the bed last night before I fell asleep, thing was, I forgot that I did, and it was technically under me the entire night...I checked, no strange phone calls to anyone at 0400...and this call came in at 1003 this morning, and it was like, ok, I can hear the phone, I can feel the phone, but I'm wrapped up in the doona, and so's the phone! Hand on phone, phone stops ringing....as usual...so, it's an 07 number, so it's from Queensland...and I just press redial..."You have reached the Queensland Government. Please hold and the next available operator will take your call." Ok...now, which office called? Tenancy, or Fair Trading (for my security)? So, talked to a really nice operator, and she was oh, why did you call us, and I explained that I had a missed call, pressed redial, and it went to her...also told her that I had two things going on at the moment with the Q Government, security and tenancy, and I didn't know who called...so I gave her the number, and she did a check..."I'm sorry Nicholas, but that number is not bringing up names or which department is calling you in regards to what...actually, it's a silent departmental number (?!)...I don't even know which department it is!" Alrighty then...strange phone call it is...but only because I didn't pick up in time...I did manage to get my Lodgment Unit Number and Application Number from her for my security application, so I can probably send off those letters by Thursday or Friday this week and get it all sorted...I forgot to bring the receipt with me with those number on it, so I had to wait till I got back to the Coast to post it...now, I can be a week in front at least...
Man I'm hungry...my stomach is gurgling and vibrating...so, what to do today...have a quick (hot) shower, dash down town...now, Noodlebox, Subway, Charcoal Chicken, Salad Roll, Roasted Chicken, KFC or McDonalds? Or something more substantial like Banjo's? Hmm...I've been thinking of having Chinese since last night, so Noodlebox is a firm favorite...but I think by the time things have been done up here, it'll be time for me to just eat the first thing that come in, so yea....combination meat...extra garlic prawn...booya...
Be safe.

Who Is The Black Chinaman?

- Saving someone's life is like falling in love. The best drug in the world. For days, sometimes weeks afterwards, you walk the streets, making infinite whatever you see. Once, for a few weeks, I couldn't feel the earth - everything I touched became lighter. Horns played in my shoes. Flowers fell from my pockets. You wonder if you've become immortal, as if you've saved your own life as well. God has passed through you. Why deny it, that for a moment there - why deny that for a moment there, God was you? I realised that my training was useful in less than ten percent of the calls, and saving lives was rarer than that. After a while, I grew to understand that my role was less about saving lives than about bearing witness. I was a grief mop. It was enough that I simply turned up. Living and working back in Brunei, after a 14 year absence... Also known as: Brunei, NASA, Bruise-Eye, Bru, Cheesecake, Nick, BruNick, BruMedNick, Two Step etc etc etc
