Who Is The Black Chinaman?

Saving someone's life is like falling in love. The best drug in the world. For days, sometimes weeks afterwards, you walk the streets, making infinite whatever you see. Once, for a few weeks, I couldn't feel the earth - everything I touched became lighter. Horns played in my shoes. Flowers fell from my pockets. You wonder if you've become immortal, as if you've saved your own life as well. God has passed through you. Why deny it, that for a moment there - why deny that for a moment there, God was you? I realised that my training was useful in less than ten percent of the calls, and saving lives was rarer than that. After a while, I grew to understand that my role was less about saving lives than about bearing witness. I was a grief mop. It was enough that I simply turned up. Living and working back in Brunei, after a 14 year absence... Also known as: Brunei, NASA, Bruise-Eye, Bru, Cheesecake, Nick, BruNick, BruMedNick, Two Step etc etc etc

Everyone's Irish On St Paddy's Day...

Man, it's been a hectic last few days...

Saturday was good...started great in fact...spent the morning doing observation exercises, so, firstly we tailed each other, and it was so obvious if we were following people that they would more than likely know...which was interesting...but then we had to trail complete strangers, which was even more fun...so, we had to draw up descriptions, what they were doing, how long they were there for, and not make it so obvious that they were being tracked...without being picked as well by security and/or police...which came to be a close call for some of the class...and we absoloutely smashed through modules too...then Lee and myself hit the Pig at 1500...that was then it started getting messy...

Drink, drink, drink, drink........and then I started falling asleep....Red Bull......drink, drink...hmm, lets go to the strip club...$10 in, two free drinks...why not..."Hi, would you like to buy a ticket? Gets you a $50 lapdance...$5...here you go, E39." Drink, drink, "Congratulations E39, you have just won a lapdance..." Whoa...at which point, Lee decided that he was going to try to start a fight with this guy who had dreddies and was just a crazy looking person for $50...hell, his entire team of five looked slightly crazed and they were being a bit disruptive in all the senses...anyhow, the fight didn't happen, but the lapdance did, and when that was over, back to the Pig...

So, got back to the Pig, and was having a chat to Benny, who's originally from Trundle, NSW, and Steve, Cronulla, NSW...two of the bouncers at the Pig, as well as Sully, Operations Manager of the security company...so, Sully was having a chat to us, and heard from Benny and Steve that we were doing the security course...anyhow, he just came over and gave us his business card, and told us to call him as soon as we've finished...also had a chat to some interesting blokes...all fun and games at the end of the day...

TL:DR, Saturday was messy....messy....MESSY...

Sunday morning...didn't even have pants on...just got out of the shower, and Midget was in the kitchen, cooking breakfast..."Hi Nick, I'm collecting rent this weekend, and I'll pick up yours today...as in right now..." I just walked to my room and plunked the money onto the kitchen bench...and he was still yabbing away...whatever...

Anyhow, went to Alex Headlands for TAFE, and we absoloutely slammed through the modules...as in, three modules in an hour and a half...now, Kim, the only female in the class, she's a bit interesting and not all there...for some reason or other, she was talking about her kangaroo meat steaks that we were going to have for the BBQ (which didn't happen since we had finished at 1030, instead of nearer to lunch like we though we would have...), and we were actually talking about the answers to the questions in the modules, and she was off on her own tangent, talking about who knows what.................interesting, most definitely, sane? Not so sure...

Sunday night, went to church, Palm Sunday and all, and there was a meet and greet for new arrivals after it...so, that went well, had some dinner, talked to the priest and some of the committee and all that...and started to walk home, weather looked bad...got five minutes away, in the middle of the two schools that I cut through, and it started to rain now, didn't it?

TL:DR, Sunday was slower, but still fun...

Today...oh man...

Since I'm doing that course, I've been juggling around my classes both between uni and TAFE, and since this week coming is Easter too, classes are going all over the place...anyhow, had an appointment made up with the Red Cross to donate blood from about two weeks ago, and it was this morning at 0940...my reassigned Bioscience class started at 0900...and I had an inclass test on stuff covered in the last two weeks...which I managed to finish easily (well, I though so anyhow), so, test over at 0920 (took me 20 mins all up), and dashed across to the collection truck...at which point they were like, ok, this is your first time donating blood, so we'll get you to fill this this and that in, and do that and this, ok, now, come and have a chat and we'll do some tests............oops, sorry, you answered one of the questions in a way that means we cannot accept your blood today...(gee, that was a great use of my time....)so, come back in a week, and we'll see what happens.........sheesh.....

TL:DR, Red Cross don't want my blood....

So, organised to have lunch with Grace...but I didn't know what was going on, she didn't know what was going on, and yea, we ended up at the Sunshine Plaza (next to the TAFE and Pig), and had lunch at Sultans....great Turkish food...and paid off all the bills I owe, and sorted out my finances and all that too, so things are looking positive (for now anyway)...and yea, did some shopping with G, and the she went home with her aunt, who was also shopping at the Plaza...

I had fun, and I think she did too...

"BruNick - Nicholas M Newn AACAP MAIES - I've known some of my big disappointments since they were little hopes and dreams.... says (11:36 PM):
i had fun today
chocolatebox>one isn't enough says (11:36 PM):
me too...
=)"

Oh, speaking of ACAP and AIES, I've transfered up from NSW to the QLD divisions of both organisations, so this could become interesting...

And finally, for dinner tonight...made up a tuna and rice casserole...man, it was GOOD...and the white sauce didn't flunk either!!! *lil victory dance*

TL:DR for the post, life is good...and white sauce not burnt!
