The Power of One Review
Probably the best review I could find online...if you haven't read it, please do...
Got a new pup yesterday..."Dusty"...cute little thing...about 2 months old, female, and is...get this...a "half Shep (German Shepard), quarter Boxer, Rott mix"...but she's so cute! Had to look after last night...the others outside were slobbering her to death, but I guess that's better than getting munched on by the older dogs...still, she's fiesty, taking on the oldest there, Bassie...that's guts...I wouldn't take Bassie on...she'd slobber me to death too...;) So she stayed over night in my room...it was raining outside, and I didn't want her to be crying and me having to walk out all night...so, solved the problem by bring her to me...thing is, she kept trying to climb into bed...she couldn't jump the foot my bed's elevated over the ground, so for most of the night she'd be on her hunches, with her paws on the bed, crying at me to bring her up...then she'd try gnawin' at my pillow...ho hum...
So here I am, sitting in front of the Idiot Box's cousin (The 'Puter) munching on Pringles (Spicy Cajun) and Planters Cheez Mania Cheez Ballz...gee, I'm getting bored...finished the book, looked after most of the household chores, weened a new pup...what have I got on tonight?
Bug, there's the Combined Carols Service tonight...only found out that I was singing in it on Monday, Bass, with songs that I have NEVER seen in my life, and one of them's in South African too! Thank goodness there's only 3 of them...
Had the biggest scare earlier. I had lost my phone, and I couldn't find it in the house...turned out that it was at the friend's place where we picked up the dog yesterday...there was the storm, and it started with this huge flash of lightning, big arsed KABOOM, and the skys opened up...this is the sort of thing that I miss surely when I'm over in Australia, the spontanious rain storm/tropical monsoon...
My dad also got discharged today, so hopefully he'll be back by next week Thursday...looks promising...fixed thier aircon today too...called in the Techies (gotta love Techies) yesterday, found out that the thing's spewing out the coolant gas...boys came in first thing this morning and welded the thing shut, so now it's nice and cold in the house...turned off my a/c for the first time this week, since my rent's room a/c is keeping the temp at a comfortable level...
Better leave and finish writing out the Chrissy cards...mailing them off tomorrow...supposed to have done those about a month ago...haven't had time in the month!
I wish I knew what I can do with some people...I've got 2 months when I get back to Aust, and I'm not sure if I should try to persue something that I yearn for, and if it'll be accepted...just want to see what it's like again...been too long...
Who Is The Black Chinaman?

- Saving someone's life is like falling in love. The best drug in the world. For days, sometimes weeks afterwards, you walk the streets, making infinite whatever you see. Once, for a few weeks, I couldn't feel the earth - everything I touched became lighter. Horns played in my shoes. Flowers fell from my pockets. You wonder if you've become immortal, as if you've saved your own life as well. God has passed through you. Why deny it, that for a moment there - why deny that for a moment there, God was you? I realised that my training was useful in less than ten percent of the calls, and saving lives was rarer than that. After a while, I grew to understand that my role was less about saving lives than about bearing witness. I was a grief mop. It was enough that I simply turned up. Living and working back in Brunei, after a 14 year absence... Also known as: Brunei, NASA, Bruise-Eye, Bru, Cheesecake, Nick, BruNick, BruMedNick, Two Step etc etc etc
